Organization Frost Art Museum at FIU Primary Category Art Exhibitions Extras Join us for the opening reception of the new exhibitions: Mark Messersmith: Fragile Nature - The Florida Artist Series explores the tension in the southern United States between this wild, living place and ever-increasing human expansion. The paintings are dense, radiant, and sculptural depictions of the flora and fauna of northern Florida, struggling to survive. Materials and Meaning: Earthenware, Stoneware and Porcelain from the Wolfsonian-FIU Collection presents modern ceramics to reveal the expressive and functional potential of the three major types of clay. The exhibition shows how designers and artists have adapted the fixed material qualities of each to achieve diverse outcomes. Evening will include guided museum tours, light refreshments and music by FIU's Radiate FM.
