On behalf of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), I am pleased to extend an invitation for you to attend the National Cyber Security Awareness Month’s (NCSAM) the State of Cybersecurity and Law Enforcement Forum on Monday October 10, 2012, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the United States Secret Service (USSS) Miami Field Office. The forum, which will feature remarks by senior U.S. law enforcement leadership including USSS Director Mark Sullivan, will focus on the importance of cybersecurity awareness and the critical role that law enforcement officers – such as you – play in reducing cybercrime.  In addition to remarks from Director Sullivan and others, representatives from industry, government, non-profits, and academia will also take part in a subsequent panel discussion focusing on cybersecurity law enforcement coordination in the 21st Century. The USSS will also provide a demonstration on cybercrime investigations relating to the Payment Card Industry (PCI).   Across America, hundreds of thousands law enforcement officers work to keep our nation safer and more secure in countless ways. With support from Government, industry, and academic resources, law enforcement professionals play a vital role in proactively fighting Internet-related crime, promoting safer online behavior, and reminding the public that in the cyber world–just like the physical world– there are real consequences.
