Calling all techies, inventors and Einsteins! The Intellectual Property Committee of the Dade County Bar Association proudly invites you to participate in The Third Annual Patently Impossible Project to benefit Dade Legal Aid on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 6pm – 8pm at the Miami Science Museum.
Now in its third year, The Patently Impossible Project is a charity race to assemble a patented invention. All participants will be provided various parts, tools and only the instructions in a patent registration - your job is to complete the assembly of the invention before your competition. Prizes include intellectual property books courtesy of BNA Books, a special first place plaque, and of course, bragging rights! If the competition intimidates you, come watch the action from the sidelines, cheer on your colleagues, and “bet” on your favorite contestant by purchasing raffle tickets for incredible door prizes. A reception with complimentary hors d’oeuvres, cocktails graciously provided by Grey Goose and Heineken, and an amazing silent auction will follow.
Dade Legal Aid is a non-profit law firm that provides free legal services to qualifying low income residents of Miami-Dade County. In practice for over 60 years, it is a single organization with two components – in house legal services and the Put Something Back pro bono program, a joint pro bono effort of the Courts and Bar. In 2011, Dade Legal Aid served over 7,000 clients. Nineteen staff attorneys specialize in family law, domestic violence, guardianship, housing, bankruptcy, foreclosure, child and teen advocacy. Through Put Something Back, pro bono private sector attorneys and law firm participants are matched with clients in need in all areas of civil law including housing, consumer, small claims, insurance, not-for-profits, general civil, etc. Unfortunately, devastating funding cuts have reduced Dade Legal Aid’s staff and ability to serve the ever-growing legal needs of the indigent clients in Miami Dade. Dade Legal Aid needs you now.
