Clarke Recital Hall in the Weeks Center for Recording and Performance Chamber Music Mash-Up
HMI Chamber Recital
Featuring Mancini Fellows and FriendsThe Henry Mancini Institute at the Frost School of Music provides an opportunity for participating graduate students to explore a "live music mash-up" like nowhere else. In this eclectic concert akin to the excitement of contemporary visual art, Mancini percussion fellows will introduce you to the wilder side of chamber music as they perform John Cage's "Third Construction" on paint cans, congas, bongos, and a myriad of hand percussion instruments. Others will unveil unique musical concepts such as John Cheetham's "Brass Menagerie" for brass quintet; original works by members of Avocado Estate for fiddle, bass, banjo and cello; "Lembrancas dum P de Serra (Memories of P de Serra)" for cello sextet by Rafael Piccolotto de Lima; and the contemplative Brahms Horn Trio, Op. 40 (I: Andante) for horn, violin, and piano.
