Join the effort of the FIU V-Day team as we strive to raise awareness of violence against women and young girls on our campus! The Women's Studies Student Association is proud to announce another year of The Vagina Monologues at Florida International University. The Vagina Monologues is a play that aims to raise awareness about violence against women and girls around the world. The play consists of a series of monologues that somehow relate to the vagina. They are intimate experiences of women and their vaginas, some pertaining to sex, birth, rape, etc. The Vagina Monologues has been performed at FIU for over five years and each year it raises thousands of dollars for charity. Past beneficiaries include: FIU Victim Advocacy Center, Kristi House, The Lodge House, Rios Family, Women's Studies Department. Author Eve Ensler wrote the play in 1996 and after her solo show on Broadway, the V-Day movement was born. V-Day is a global effort to raise awareness about violence against women and girls, it is an organization that raises funds to support the well-being of women and girls who have been victims/survivors of violence. For additional event information please contact FIU's Women's Studies Department at 305-348-2408.
