Organization Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library Primary Category Charity & Social Events Extras The Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library invite you to Miami Moments, an event dedicated to celebrating the library and those special people who have helped to make it one of the most prestigious public library systems in the country. Live Swing-era jazz by Matthew Taylor; Savory hors d'oeuvres, delectable food, and fine wines; Silent auction featuring the works of Andy Sweet, Mario Algaze, Silvia Lizama, Bill Maguire, and Deborah Gray Mitchell, among others; Miami-themed exhibits including the photographs of Gleason W. Romer; Miami's Legendary Drag Queen Adora and Friends. This year, the Friends honor Toby Muir, a shareholder with Dunwody, White & Landon, who served for many years as treasurer, vice-president and then long-term president of the Friends of the Library. Many will recall how instrumental Toby was when he led the Friends' successful grassroots campaign in 1988 to establish a special two-year county tax assessment resulting in a $52 million library book trust.
