The first Kendall International Food Festival is presented by DOC IT (Detect Ovarian Cancer in Time). It takes place at West Kendall Batist Church, 14955 SW 88 Street, Kendall. This family-friendly festival, which aims to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, will feature food from numerous local restaurants, music, children’s activities including a bounce house and climbing wall, and a petting zoo. Admission is $5. Free admission for children five and under. One hundred percent of the proceeds from Kendall International Food Festival will go to medical facilities dedicated to ovarian cancer research, including MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Moon Shots programs. Created in 2012, Moon Shots is an effort to dramatically accelerate the pace of converting scientific discoveries into clinical advances that reduce cancer deaths. The festival is being organized and presented by DOC IT (Detect Ovarian Cancer in Time) a 501(c)3 non for profit organization based in South Florida. Founded in 2006 by ovarian cancer victim Martha Casado, the primary mission of DOC IT is to help find a screening test and/or cure for ovarian cancer.
