￼￼After many years of sharing the stage with other acts they have decided to come together as a group. Bringing together not only their abilities as performers, but as composers as well. This Wednesday, 5/1/2013, @ PAX, they release their first recording as a group entitled, “Consortium.” The band consists of Dave Siegel on keys, Josh Allen on Bass, Rodolfo Zuniga on Drums, Cisco Dimas on Trumpet, and David Fernandez on Saxes. Show @ 9pm Fernandez began his career as a jazz musician in Miami, Fl. He first studied jazz at Miami Senior High School under the direction of Dr.Brian Leavell. He earned an invitation to New York to perform with the McDonald’s All-American High School Band his senior year. He also won an honorable mention from Downbeat Magazine for best high school performer, and won first place for Best Original Composition.Upon graduation, he enrolled at the University of Miami and earned his Bachelor’s Degree. Shortly after, he continued his studies at Florida International University, under the direction of Gary Campbell and completed his Master’s Degree. David began his career touring with latin pop-star Chayanne. Along the way, he has toured with such artists as Jon Secada, Gloria Estefan,Nestor Torres, Darryl Tookes, and K.C. and the Sunshine Band. He has shared the stage with Joe Henderson, Paquito D’ Rivera, Randy Brecker,Kenny Werner, Gerry Mulligan, Bob Minzer, Arturo Sandoval, Willy Chirino, Meme Solis, Rafael, The O.J.’s, The Funk Brothers, Peabo Bryson, Patti Austin, Queen Latifa, and The Tramps. He currently has two CD’s released, “Symmetry” and “Transition Project”. He can also be heard on “Surfaces”, a Rodolfo Zuniga CD. David Fernandez is also the current Adjunct Professor of Saxophones at MDC and is also a part-time instructor at MDC-Kendall and Barry University. He still performs locally and abroad with his group and with a vast array of other musical groups.
