In the 1920s, Carl Fisher's "5th Avenue of the South" label put Lincoln Road on the national map. Later, in the late '50s, Lincoln Road became Lincoln Road Mall when famed architect Morris Lapidus (Foutainbleau and Eden Roc Hotels) redesigned the "road," transforming it into a pedestrian walkway. Lincoln Road Mall has continued to evolve as it entered the 21st Century, with many internationally acclaimed architectural additions alongside the existing Art Deco and Mid-Century buildings & structures. This personal tour describes and explains all the creative developments. TOUR DEPARTS FROM THE NEW WORLD SYMPHONY BOX OFFICE AT WASHINGTON AVENUE AND 17TH STREET.
