The Allapattah Branch Library was the first branch organized by the Library Board of the Miami Public Library System. This small 5,500 square-foot neighborhood branch has moved three times since its initial opening, and is now in a location selected in 1963. The surrounding neighborhood is a diverse community with two high schools and several elementary schools. In addition to housing a 15,000 item collection of varied books and materials, the library has expanded to include the latest in technology, including access to the Internet.
