Carolina Alvarez has been charged with aggravated child abuse after Hialeah police were called to the home last Thursday. The child was found by officers sitting in the fridge with a scared look on her face, while Alvarez was laying on the couch. According to the arrest report, the child’s uncle reported the incident, however neighbors don’t believe the claims. The neighbors claim that they have never seen the child with any markings or bruises and that she always seemed happy. The arrest report also states that there were previous incidents were Alvarez placed concrete tiles on top of the child while she was in bed. Alvarez claims that she did this to protect the child from radiation in the apartment.
During her first court appearance, Alvarez tried to argue and explain her case to the judge. She said, “Number one, the door was wide open and Number two-” and the judge stopped her and responded, “Ma’am, please don’t talk about the charges. You’re presumed not guilty, anything you say can be used against you.” The judge then ordered Alvarez to stay away from her daughter and is being held under a $7,500 bond. The child will remain with the Department of Children and Families.
