Just as Toto is about to release their first album in 10 years on March 24, fans and band members honor longtime bassist, Mike Porcaro, who died Sunday. He was 59.

Porcaro was living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's Disease, for quite some time. ALS is a progressive, degenerative disease that eventually leads to paralysis and death. After the diagnosis, Porcaro passed the torch to perform with the band to Leland Sklar in 2007.

In addition to his work with Toto, Porcaro also worked with Seals & Crofts and Boz Scaggs.

Porcaro was one of three brothers in the Grammy-winning band. Now, only one remains - Steve Porcaro, the band's keyboardist - who confirmed the news on Facebook Sunday:

"Our brother Mike passed away peacefully in his sleep at 12:04 AM last night at home surrounded by his family. Rest in peace, my brother."

Drummer Jeff Porcaro, who found great recognition working on Steely Dan's "Katy Lied" album, died at just 38 after spraying insecticide in the yard of his California home. Surviving members David Paich and Steve Lukather are childhood friends of the Porcaros.
