CONCORD, N.C. — An 8-year-old boy is dead after someone accidentally shot him inside a North Carolina home, authorities said.
According to WSOC-TV, the shooting occurred about 2 a.m. EDT Friday at a home on Ramsgate Drive in Concord. Concord police arrived to find a boy with a gunshot wound, the outlet reported. Medical personnel pronounced the child dead at the scene, the department said in a news release.
“The investigation remains fluid, but early indications are that the firearm was accidentally discharged by a resident [of the home] who was the owner of the gun,” read the release. “At this time, the male subject that discharged the firearm is being cooperative and speaking with investigators at the Concord Police Department.”
At approximately 2:08 this morning, CPD responded to a reported shooting at 1080 Ramsgate Drive. Upon arriving on scene, officers found a male juvenile deceased. Currently, investigators are interviewing the gun owner and are not looking for any other subjects. / ral pic.twitter.com/8D2Ydvs503
