Kayden Reid, 6, of Mobile, was hit by a car on Tuesday while saving his 2-year-old sister, who had darted into traffic, WALA-TV reported. The boy only suffered a few scratches and needed a few stitches before he was released from an area hospital.

“My momma called me a hero because I saved my baby sister,” Reid told the television station.

The boy was focused on keeping his sister, Kaycee, out of harm’s way, according to WALA.

“I had to go get her before she got ran over by the car. But that’s when the car hit me,” Reid told the television station.

“Kayden stopped what he was doing and jumped in front and saved her from being hit in the process,” the boy’s aunt, Kendra Nettles, told WALA.

Nettles said the driver of the vehicle stopped to make the children were all right.

“It wasn’t her fault,” Nettles told the television station. “We’re just thankful that she stopped when she did to make sure that everything is OK with him and us.”

Appropriately, the boy was wearing his Superman costume on Wednesday when he was visited by Mobile Fire and Rescue.

The firefighters gave him a tour of the fire truck and allowed him to sit in the driver’s seat, WALA reported.

The boy loved every minute of the attention he was receiving, telling a reporter, “Thank you, everyone, for watching me”.
