Recall alert: Impex Fitness recalls 77K dumbbell handles

POMONA, Calif. — Impex Fitness on Tuesday recalled some 77,200 OBB-20 Olympic Dumbbell handles due to an injury hazard.

According to the recall notice, the locking collar on the affected dumbbell handles can slip, dropping weights when held perpendicular to the floor.

Pomona, California-based Impex Fitness has received four reports to date of the locking collars slipping, but no injuries have been reported, the notice stated.

The affected products were sold exclusively at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores nationwide and online at https://www.dickssportinggoods.com from July 2015 through July 2021 for about $50.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled dumbbell handles and contact Impex Fitness to receive a free replacement set of new locking collars. The replacement collars will be mailed out to consumers free of charge.

Meanwhile, faulty collars should be discarded, the company advised.
