According to the recall notice, issued in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Textron is recalling 2022 and 2023 Freedom and Valor E-Z-GO RXV personal transportation vehicles because a part of the steering column could break during or after an impact, resulting in a loss of control that could lead to crash and injury hazards.

Recalled vehicles have serial numbers within the range of 5656874 through 5656886 and 5659215 through 5700741, the recall stated.

The affected models were sold at E-Z-GO dealerships nationwide and online via E-Z-GO’s Dealer to Driveway program from January 2022 through September 2022 for between $10,000 and $17,000 each.

To date, Augusta, Georgia-based Textron has fielded 335 reports of the steering knuckles and A-arms on the golf carts breaking, including one instance that resulted in two abrasion injuries.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled personal transportation vehicles and contact Textron Specialized Vehicles for a free repair.

Consumers may contact Textron by calling 1-888-525-6040 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday; via email at jcook03@textron.com; or online at https://ezgo.txtsv.com.
